Can my Homeschooled friend get a Facebook account?

I have a friend who wants to start a facebook account, the only problem is that he homeschools and he is under 18.
Is it possible for him to get an account without lieing about his age? If not, he says he would rather not have an account then lie about his age to get one.

Jim bob, Facebook's terms of service say the minimum age is 13, so he certainly doesn't have to lie about his age. I believe that high school students join by getting invited in by students at their school, so if he has a friend who goes to a local high school and uses Facebook, he or she can help him join. He can also join a regional network in Facebook (like his state), but that's closed off from university and high school networks, so he may want to join a student network. Hope that helps.
