Silva, maybe Simon will want to help, but I can tell you you'll probably get a faster response from MySpace if you use the specific contact address for your problem: imposterreport@myspace.com. At least it looks from your post that you're talking about an imposter profile someone created about you, right? Here's my post yesterday about the latest specific contact addresses at MySpace. Good luck,
Anne

Your figures were interesting - 80%. Over here, it's my understanding, most schools use network-level filtering (which, some tech educators say actually gives administrators a false sense of security).

Yes they do give a false sence of security, and there not administered properly in the first place

In any case, is that not the case in the UK?
Yep Exactly the same
I've also read that mobiles are the biggest tech-related behavioral problem in UK schools. Would you say it's more computers?
Computers first then mobiles,
What did you mean by 15 pupils who needed help? You mean at-risk youth?
I discovered Bullying, child abuse. self harm
now can you see why i get annoyd when they didnt want to know.
I'm curious about that, because what we're beginning to see over here is that it's the at-risk youth offline who are most at risk online, and that more expertise in this area is needed to be folded into the online-safety discussion. Thanks for any insights you'd like to provide.

You mean you were blocked because the school's administrators didn't want to hear the info you had? Ok, I won't ask any more questions about that, but I would like to follow up on a couple of other interesting things you "said"....

Sorry for the delay.

In simplistic terms, you can not easily "hide your" identity, you can make it more difficult to trace, but not impossible. Every computer is given a unique number when they connect to the internet via the Internet Service Provider.

Ive actually done a number of talks in Schools, I created a application to scan a school enviroment. The results that I discovered was alarming. 80% kids using chat, surfing porn, kids giving out there REAL NAMES, ADDRESSES, MOBILE NUMBERS. out of the schools i did i discovered 15 pupils that needed help.
I tried to take it further but I was wall blocked.
Educate the kids I thought was a good idea.

I better stop on that cause it gets me annoyed!!

Thanks for your offer, Simon. I hope people will take you up on it. While I'm posting, I would like to ask you a forensics-related Q about anonymity online. A smart teacher in Philadelphia over here actually asked a computer forensics expert in his local police dept. to come talk to the school's student body (and demo for them) that nobody is truly anonymous online - identities can be figured out. If you agree, could you explain (wish you could demo) why? Many thanks,
Anne
