Age of Consent? It varies from state to state

All this talk about the so called innocence of teens but in my neighborhood the teens have open sex with one another, they do drugs, they drink, they are hardly innocent angels. This innocent angel thing has run its course, If teens are already "keen" to the ways of the world and adults, what are we protecting them against? Serial killers or people who would do them harm, certainly, but as far as online sex goes, they are already having sex--they are beyond "corruption" as it were. If a teen murders someone they are often tried as an adult. What gives the system the right to do this if, as this website suggests, teens are really and ONLY children?! You either are a child or you are an adult. You cannot be an adult when it is convenient for the legal system, and then a poor innocent when propositioned by an adult. It makes no sense.

The age of consent laws differ from state to state, too!
