Either my psychotic mother or my little brother created an account on MySpace for my TWO YEAR OLD LITTLE BOY!!! They DID NOT okay this with me and it is NOT okay! It says that he's a 14 year old kid with his own list of friends and everything! I don't even know how they did it because you have to have an e-mail address to have MySpace! Whoever it was sent me a friend's request, but I denied it because that ISN'T my little boy, but now I can't view the profile because at least it is set to "private"! Is it possible that the name you gave your 2-year old wasn't completely unique...and might hve been used before...

Glad you got it resolved and thanks for telling us how, Weathered Stone. It's good to know there's a profile-locking option. All best,
Anne

OKAY! They finally wrote!!! This is what they had to say: "Hello, Because it's obviously an underage profile, we can simply delete it. However, considering that the "user" in question is your son, if you intend to take legal action we can instead lock the profile, which will prevent the maintainer from logging in and changing anything. If you do wish to pursue legal action in this matter, please let us know and ask law enforcement to contact us so that we can assist them in their investigation. Thank you, MySpace.com" I told them I'd rather not take legal action if I didn't have to but to delete the account and keep an eye on the two users suspected in creating the profile in the first place so they do not simply recreate another profile for him, however I told them if that wasn't feasible to lock it only if the screen when the maintainer tried to sign in would say something along the lines of it being an underage user as to the reason it is locked- ideally that would keep them from creating another profile for my son. Thank you for all of your help and I might put that Parent e-mail in my address book in case they do decide to make another profile for him.

Weathered Stone, a new address MySpace has established is ParentCare@MySpace.com. Try that one too - you might get faster results. All best,

Well Anne one thing myspace could do to stop people would be to start IP bans of people that do that sort of thing. And since the law against useing social networking sites will probably become law blocking from a public machine would not be an issue. -- -Rasma

Thank you, I sent an e-mail to one of the branches of MySpace, but still have not heard from them. I will send an e-mail to the address you provided and let you know what comes of it. Thank you!

Sometimes people make up email addresses to start up a MySpace account, so email addresses, real or fake, are no barrier. To get an impersonator's page taken down, you can email MySpace at CustomerCare@MySpace.com, provide the URL (Web address) of that profile - something like myspace.com/12345678 - and explain the situation. Let us know if you don't hear from them within a few days. The problem is, there is nothing to prevent the person who created the page from putting up another one. The only way anyone can really fix a problem like this is at its source, which - if getting the page deleted isn't the end of it - might unfortunately mean finding out who the joker is and persuading him/her to pick on someone his or her own size. Hope it gets resolved,
Anne
