Google was blocked before, XD; It's definately not impossible. If we want a site to be admitted for school use we have to suggest it to our principle, say what we need it for, etcetc. Our school is way behind in technology.

The way things are blocked in our school are done in a few ways, you can't search certain terms, or enter webadresses with them, certain content is blocked on websites, like embedded videos and images searches, and random websites. yeah.

I think the vast majority of US schools do this kind of blocking which is actually not a very good solution, because filtering software can overblock good stuff, underblock bad stuff, really works best when downloading content is involved (not uploading is, as in blogging and social-networking sites), and students know so many workarounds to blocking software, such as proxy sites and services.

It is strange... I mean with the popularity of google it really would be impossible to block it. Why dont u suggest to your school to use a control software like net nanny or responsible surfing that blocks inappropriate websites yet allows you to set rules permitting sites like research, yahoo, mail, google etc.

Our school had google blocked for a good month because of the image search... And we can get on a lot of unsafe websites from school, but who would want to do that from school, anyway? A lot of websites necessary for reports and such have been blocked, and it made research difficult.
