A little old but common topic, but still want to share what i know here. To my knowledge, the Amac family keylogger mac is not bad as my auntie has been using it for six months, and she thinks highly of it. Apart from providing rock solid protection, and it does not slow down her computer.

Hi, My husband and I recently studied a few of the more affordable parental control software options. After trying a few and comparing their features we now use TimeWarden by SmartKoders.com. It's easy to use, has many important features such as content filtering and statistics on computer and internet activity. We also found that the kids respond well to the time limit warning and our arguments have disappeared. You should try their 30 day free trial and see for your self.

The review, many a time, is paid and sponsored by the software companies themselves, what ever they said, I keep a wait-and-see attitude, and I use any parental control, not that expensive but very useful.

I would also just like to add http://webspaces.kiwicommons.com to the list! Not only is it a great resource tool, but it's all about being proactive as parents!

Just wanted to add www.unitedparents.com to the ones mentioned below. This is a new generation tool that makes an intelligent leverage from the data that is collected from all the members to better protect each one of the kids. In addition, it does not really invade the child’s privacy as it does not disclose private information of the kids. Worth a try.

Internet filter and parental control software helps parents a lot to monitor and control the child's use of the Internet and at the same time block inappropriate content. Parental control software has almost the same features as employee software for time tracking that also monitors and record web sites visited, computer activities and applications used of employees.

What about myweblock.com? Simple, does what it says. And creates screenshots.

I suppose, that the majority of parents have problems of two types: - you install good parental control soft, and the child starts scandalizing. - you install bad soft and he or she quickly finds out how to overcome the protection. I found solution for, when I bought TimeBoss parental control software I talked to my boys, and together we made the schedule for using the net and games, and I am no longer the time cop. As for the program... Good things: I can set different brakes and bans for different sites and applications. For example, I can limit the time for facebook and totally ban porn. I can easily change my settings depending on the day of the week. It's not horribly expensive. Bad things: It works with explorer only, so I had to block all the other browsers.

Try this out.. www.socioclean.com its a self-governed tool..nothing to install..just make sure your kid runs it..it helps them keep bad content (posted by them or another user) off of thier profiles.

I'm getting the impression from this forum and elsewhere that a lot of parents who know how to write software code write their own kid-monitoring tools – or modify existing software products.
Are ppl here seeing that too? If any of you have done either, would be interesting to know why. Thanks,
Anne

Also you can use ActyMac DutyWatch Remote. DutyWatch Remote is a computer monitoring and recording program that is capable of capturing every software used, every website visited, every keystroke made, even every instant message chat. http://www.actymac.com/dutywatch_remote/

You can use ProteMac KeyBag. KeyBag creates a digital record of instant message chats, sites visited, notes written, and amount of time spent on the computer. http://www.protemac.com/keybag/

Countless programs try to deal with the problems caused by the technology of cell phones and computers. Even Oprah Winfrey closes her show every day by encouraging kids go to her website and pledge not to text and drive. The problem with all of these things is that they either don't eliminate the danger or they only deal with a small part of it. I recommend the web safety application because it sends a text message alert to the parent's cell phone and a detailed email to their computer whenever a dangerous or inappropriate event happens on either the child's computer or cell phone. Most parents believe that they know what's going on with their kids but very few people really understand the extent of dangers their children face every day. That's why I wrote the "Parent's Guide to the CyberWorld of Children." It's available at no cost at www.LessStress4parents.com I hope that you find it helpful.

Welcome William, Can you tell us what you like about the product, such as key features and how they work for your family? (A quick reminder, too, everyone: I really hope nobody's promoting the product(s) of the company they work for, since No Advertising is one of our community rules.) Thanks much, Maureen -- Maureen Kochan ConnectSafely community manager
