Reporting Perverts on Facebook

On several occasions now my 15yr old daughter has had unwanted attention (gifts/poking) on Facebook.

I can access her account and privacy settings are such that she is very safe. She doesn't add friends without my approval either.

But twice the attention came from middle age men. These men have in one case sent numerous gifts to young teenage girls and in the other the friend list is purely young teenage girls.

These guys are clearly a potential danger, but what can we do? I know we can say "no" to them, but other kids clearly haven't and may not be "web safe". I feel a responsibility to them. Is there anyone who monitors these guys? Anywhere we can report them to?

Thanks in advance.

I ran this by our contact at Facebook and he said they encourage users and parents to report suspicious behavior like this. Users can submit a report any of the following three ways: 1) complete a report form in the Facebook help center (See directions in my last post); 2) write to abuse@facebook.com; or 3) use the report links on the site, if you're able to access the person’s profile.

Thanks, again, for the post. I'm sure others here will find this info helpful.

Hi, You can report your concerns to Facebook here. Scroll down to "How do I report abuse?" Use the link at "tell us more" in the final sentence. You'll need the name, network, and URL of the offender.

Thanks, and all the best to you!
