Community involvement to help protect our children

Hello, everyone my name is Jessica and I have a few ideas on what we as parents and community members can do, to help insure the safety of our children and communities.
I have come across a lot of disturbing material on these so-called social sites that our children are using. I have reported numerous users but, it seems that there are so many users out there that nothing is getting done.
I think that we need to start getting involved our selves in protecting our loved ones. Maybe we should contact our schools and local officials about setting up a volunteer network on monitoring these social sites. I really think someone needs to be checking when people sign up for an account, down load photos and videos. I know our state police has an internet crimes task force and these officers go to local schools and talk about the dangers of the internet. Problem is, a lot of parents don't know officers do this nor, do they realize the dangers themselves. I would be willing to look into this further. I believe that parents are going to make the difference. So I ask all of you to think about this idea and help in anyway possible to organize local volunteer groups in your communities to help keep our kids safe. It will be a long, hard road but, shouldn't our kids be worth it.
