Just curious, any parents out there with children between 8 and 17 that are on the Internet make their children give them their passwords so that the parent has access to all their child's accounts? What are your feelings about this? Is it a parental safety issue? Steve Sanchez

I never thought about the passwords that my son was putting in on his game sites before. So, I let him have his privacy. Now I might start asking him. But, with his bipolar, I know this is going to mean a big explosion in my house. I have to take everything I do with him in little steps. I can't afford to push him pass a certian point or else he will go off. Bipolar is not a condition that is easy to deal with and now that I'm diabled and he is at a point to where it takes 3 adult men to hold him down during one of bipolar episodes I take everything slowly. Don't get me wrong I love him with all my heart. He is my bioligical grandson, and I've had him almost since the time he was borned. I dopted him when he was 2. The bipolar was diagnosed in 2nd grade, so I've got pretty good with this. But, now that I've been checking out some of the websites like IMUV I think I will approach him about his passwords. Of course he will want mine then which will open a whole nother can of worms. As my father use to say. So, what's your answer to that one?

Welcome Steve! Interesting question. I'd also be curious to know from parents who ask for passwords if they did it as a proactive measure or as the result of some incident. Maureen Kochan ConnectSafely forum manager
