pokemoncrater.com

As a parent, I have some serious concerns about child safety on the website pokemoncrater.com. I have a young (under 13) son that has been using the website recently. I was concerned when I saw that there were chatrooms.

I was just able to go on the site and register myself as an under 13 year-old user and enter into a private chat with one of the other users. To my mind, this is an extremely dangerous online environment for young children.

I also searched the site to see if there was an "Information for Parents" page. There was none that I could find.

Does anyone know anything about this website?

Thanks,

Thanks for the heads-up on Pokemoncrater.com. There are probably thousands of, basically, fan sites like this that provide community tools without thinking about the implications for younger kids who are fans and collectors. A mom in Texas once emailed me about fanfiction sites with user-generation content and community around everything from Harry Potter to Star Wars, some of it completely innocuous and safe, some of it quite the opposite. You're smart to find out what site your child spends a lot of time in and maybe have a talk about how important it is, if anyone starts talking just to him a lot, to come talk to you about it and not respond to anyone who's way too nice or makes him feel in the least bit uncomfortable. Just a couple of thoughts about it, I hope helpful.
