ISP's

I was just wondering which ISP's are doing the most to promote children's safety on the Internet and to minimize the chances of children viewing inappropriate images and websites by accident?

Licorice, here's a page in SafeFamilies.org that lists some ISPs that offer parental controls, if that's what you're asking about. Our friends at GetNetWise.org also have a page with info about all kinds of child-safety tools - filtering, monitoring, time controls, etc. - at the ISP level and at the operating-system and client (family computer levels). Hope this helps. All best,
Anne

Hi Licorice, I’m not sure where you’re from but in the US, ISPs are treated like phone companies, not content providers. Most parents look to customizable browsers (like Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator) to serve as a barrier of sorts between their computer and the Internet. Filtering software can also be useful in protecting kids from inappropriate websites and images.

Thanks for the post,
Maureen
