Hey folks, Anybody hearing a buzz on whether children are becoming involved in 'Nexting', the gathering together to make fun of the web cam brigade currently engaged on 'Chatroulette'. The site is supposed to be 16 or over but there is no joining form or data needed, click on chatroulette, enable webcam and off you go. I am somewhat concerned as there does seem to be an inordinate number of sexual exhibitionists in this world. All for stressing positives in the on line world but such easy connection does leave itself open to abuse. Any views? Alan E.

Alan. I generally have no issues with these type of sites however the most major concern I have is kid Internet safety. How do we protect our kids on the Internet? At the best of times its very difficult to check someones 'real' age. The terms of service on this site are 18+ years old, but I'm not so sure about a mechanism to terminate accounts for those under 18. This is just another one of those sites that the filtering software will have to add to their block or flag lists. Gary Kid Internet Safety

ChatRoulette is definitely nothing for kids and it seems like the site has become a great platform for exhibitionists. It can be fun for adults seeing some freaky guys on webcam but the site will sooner or later have to implement stricter registration requirements to protect children and teenagers from seeing things they shouldn't see.

My friend have been on this website. Chat Roulette, is a very lets just say "sexual" place. For the one hour they were on at one time I think they told me they saw about 40 guys giving themselves hand jobs or asking them to watch. There are few times when you get kids that are younger than you or you get kids your age, there are other times when you get people who are doing drugs right then and there. I'll tell you, chat roulette may be a good place to catch kids doing illegal drugs or selling them.

Alan, you are right in your concerns about ChatRoulette.com. This website is very adult oriented and while the premise of it is light-hearted and fun, there are also things and people on this website that provide inappropriate content for younger kids. You can read more about ChatRoulette here. Because the website is open to anyone (which is also its appeal), kids will find themselves speaking with total and complete strangers, along with an array of body parts. With celebrities using ChatRoulette.com, it just adds to the appeal for younger children.
